I love going to the dentist! OK, “love” may be too strong a word, but it conveys the extreme change in my attitude toward a visit to the dentist’s office. Prior to being referred to Dr. Nick Addario at Sunbow Family Dentistry, I was on a record-breaking seven-year hiatus from dental care.
Why do I now “love” going to the dentist on a regular schedule? Well, quite frankly, it’s the dentist! Addario has lived in Otay Ranch for 14 years with his wife Sara and children Luca (11) and Sofia (9).
Because he works and lives in Chula Vista it is common for patients to become friends, and friends to become patients. This tapestry of community connections effortlessly weaves together his work and personal life.
“I think giving back to the community is essential to making the world a better place.  Giving back can provide a basic service for somebody who is in critical need. Other times, it can be just a cherry on top to make something mediocre much better. The best part is that everybody feels good.”
Sunbow Family Dentistry will host Operation Gratitude this Halloween. It is a candy buy-back program where his office will purchase candy from kids for $1 per pound. Candy collected will be mailed to military servicemen and women stationed throughout the world.
This gets extra leftover candy out of the home, makes the kids feel good about where they are sending their candy (for a small reward), and offers a reminder to troops of the community’s support and gratitude for their service.
Oh, and it also helps keep our children’s teeth healthy!
