Christian Youth Theater/San Diego South County will present the positively mad tale of “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.” at the Mater Dei High School theater in March.
Travel down the rabbit hole and join Alice, one of literature’s most-beloved heroines, in her madcap adventures. Featuring updated songs from Disney’s animated motion picture, “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.” is a fast-paced take on the classic tale.
The ever-curious Alice’s journey begins innocently enough as she chases the White Rabbit. Her adventures become increasingly more strange as she races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, raps with a bubble-blowing caterpillar and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game.
All 70 performers and crew are between the ages of 8 and 18 and live in San Diego County.
Lead characters include Leianna Weaver as Alice, Jackson Lawrence as Mad Hatter, Sergio Elijah Contreras as Chesire Cat and Kat Marr as Queen of Hearts.
Performances are scheduled March 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. and March 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 2 p.m. Mater Dei High School is located at 1615 Mater Dei Drive, Chula Vista. Ticket prices are $17 online, $19 at the door.

CYT is an after school theater arts education program, but the student experience is not limited to the stage. Besides performance training, CYT students also learn facets of sound design, light design and stage management as they run these components of each production.
