There are those who will say there are no seasons in Southern California, but those of us who live here beg to differ.
In October the leaves turn from green to lighter green, the temperature drops to the mid 70s and even 60s (brrr) and women across town break out the boots and scarves while sipping on a pumpkin latte in the annual tradition known as “fall accessorizing.” Heavy coats and wool socks need not apply.  We may not be trekking through snow-filled streets or dodging frozen rain storms, but fashion still has a place in our mild shift from summer to fall.
The hottest boot trend this fall is the lace-up combat style boot. These stylish kicks are likely to have a distressed, worn look to them and combine comfort and fashion into one hot look.
Booties are back and they are looking mighty fine with some textured tights and a skirt or skinny pants. From leather to suede to neoprene and beyond, and in a variety of cuts such as pointy toe, wedge heel and modern cowboy, these boots bring fashion to your feet.
Don’t toss out last year’s boots especially if they are the classic above-the-knee version.  These boots are still hot to trot in a high or flat heel.
When looking for the perfect boots to rock this fall, experiment with colors, patterns, zippers and soles. Variety is the key, as Otay Ranch Town Center stylist Tanya McAnear puts it, “from a ’90s grunge style to the ’60s Beatle boot.”
Many designers showed cut-out styles with a large squared stacked heel. There is a heel height for every lady and more importantly there is a price point for all budgets.
Options are also good when you’re talking about scarves. They are perfect for any season but especially for fall. From plaid to animal prints to solids, scarves are the perfect statement piece. Pop some color into your outfit and don’t be afraid to mix patterns.
“Scarves are the most versatile fashion accessory. For fall, wearing a brightly colored or printed scarf can instantly pull your look together without taking a lot of time or expense,” said Stephanie Kingston, stylist for Stella & Dot jewelry and accessory line.
Want a full look? Opt for a wider shawl-like scarf.  Looking to get creative with different tie options? Go for a leaner material and a more narrow width. Can’t tie a scarf to save your life? Infinity is the way to go. It’s fool- proof and always looks flawless.
Be bold, be creative and have a good time dressing for that glorious So-Cal autumn. Try on that funky new style of boot you’ve been eyeing, learn at least three ways to tie a scarf and don’t forget the color in your fall wardrobe. I’ll see you at the mall!
